The Gravestone Mysteries: Book Three

The Gravestone Mysteries by Jane Hinchey

secrets and soul stones and neon body paint... guess who's up to her neck in murder?

Just when undercover SIA agent Holly Day thinks she has life in small town Gravestone handled, someone flies off the handle and Tarkath mobster Dino Cittadino turns up dead.

Throw in a treasure hunt with fake clues, a busty blonde with secrets of her own, and a mysterious stranger who seems oddly familiar, and Holly is up to her eyeballs in intrigue and chaos.

Holly’s mission? Avoid trouble and keep a low profile.
Holly’s reality? She’s on a rollercoaster ride of danger, where she can’t go five minutes without getting injured, and the only thing hotter than the murder investigation is her crush on the sheriff.

Life has become messier than a kid’s finger-painting project, more complicated than advanced calculus, and more dangerous than running with scissors. And that’s just a typical day for Holly! Her rat, Flynn, is her only constant companion in this whirlwind of madness, and her senior sidekick Doris is always ready to risk life and limb - or at least her driver’s license - to help Holly solve the case.

Holly’s life is a swirling vortex of chaos. All she can do is hold on for dear life and hope she doesn’t get splattered like a bug on a windshield.

What Reader's are Saying

What the Hex

It doesn't help when your memory has as many holes as swiss cheese and having your brain wiped doesn't help Holly one bit. Especially not when the faces of strangers somehow look familiar, things are not what they seem. But Holly just bites the bullet and carries on - because she just has to.

I enjoyed the first two books in this series and this one is the best because it answers all the confusing questions that were posed and ties everything together. Good read, thumbs up!

What the Hex

I've always enjoyed Jane's writing, and once more she hasn't failed to deliver a fun, engaging read. The character continues to grow, the story unfolds, and the reader is absorbed in the mystery. You are also guaranteed to be entertained by the play on names - so "look busy" and read this book now!

What the Hex

Wow, this was so full of twists and turns and things I just did not expect. This book did not end as expected and as much as I enjoyed the first two in the series this one was very unexpected. Holly found out a lot of things about herself some real some not, I definitely recommend this as a very good read. I would say to read the first two and then this one as it can be confusing if you haven't read the first two. Once I started reading I could not put it down. I have given this review freely and in my own words. I had an ARC copy of this book.

What the Hex

What the Hex was a quick read but a fun cozy mystery. It is book 3 in the series but there is still plenty of new action and adventure. Holly stumbles upon a dead man, who has clearly been murdered. Holly being Holly, isn't going to leave the investigations to the local police. In comes loveable Doris and Holly and Doris again work together. Holly is led to believe everything she thought was incorrect and doesn't know what or who to trust anymore. A great story where we learn more about some of the locals and get to know some new characters.

What the Hex

Again another great book from this author! I love the characters and the ending was great. There's just enough to have you guessing but not so much you are not getting the relaxation and joy from the plot/book. I look forward to more in this and other series by this Author. I highly recommend this book, an excellent escape from the real world for a bit.

What the Hex

Amazing new story with Holly, Flynn, and Doris. Plus, secrets from the past, romance that makes you swoon, a tomato fight, and of course, a little bit of magic.

What the Hex

I liked it - This was an exciting story with lots of action and adventure. Things are going well for Holly, and the kiss finally happens. It's an enjoyable installment and revisits the town of Gravestone. The flow of the story was good, and the characters are interesting. I liked how we found out Holly's backstory before Gravestone. I loved the twists and turns.

What the Hex

Holly is doing her best to lay low and stay off the radar, but people are not making it easy. A treasure hunt brings tourists into town as well as a friend of Doris’. Who can Holly trust?

This is such a fun series and this was the best book yet. I liked learning more about Flynn’s pre-rat life. Holly, Doris, and Calder are wonderful characters. I love the characters’ names. The murder investigation not only led to the killer but gave us more information about Holly. Can’t wait for the next book!

I received an advanced reader copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

What the Hex

Welcome back to the paranormal town of Gravestone, Texas, where Twitch the Witch, aka Holly Day (umm…Holiday??) has been hiding out with Flynn the rat (her former SIA Operative partner). Although she has been instructed not to use her magic under any circumstances, she finds herself right in the middle of another murder, and under scrutiny by the local Sheriff’s department. Will newcomer Fay Tality (is that a fatality?) help Holly and her new best friend Doris Shutt (get it? Door is shut??) find the killer? Will Holly finally find out why she was really sent to Gravestone? And will she and Calder ever admit their feelings for one another? Book three in this series is just as laugh-out-loud funny as the first two. And just when I think I can’t love the characters any more…well let’s just say that I’m proven wrong!

Terry Williams

What the Hex

Holly and her friends are back with more adventures. A crime is committed before the town’s treasure hunt begins. Can Holly, Doris, and Flynn solve the case before the police? Can Holly find out more about her own mystery?

What the Hex

Read books in order, you will want to know how the adventure started. This is another twisted, fast-paced, can't put it down, so make sure your kindle/e-reader is charged up. You have your hot tea or your favorite drink is ready to go. You will love trying to find friends, frenemies, and allies, as well as liars and partial truth-tellers. You will want to figure out whodunnit and see if you are right or wrong!
I really love this series, waiting for the next one!

What the Hex

Wonderful!

As one of Jane's advanced readers, I absolutely devoured the book. I love all of the characters and learning more of their backstories. This series is so much fun to read.

What the Hex

Really adorable book. Still absolutely adore Flynn and I'm thoroughly amused by Holly and her klutzy antics. Doris is, again, also very hilarious in her shenanigans. The only thing that was, in my opinion, slightly overdone, was the use of the silly names. It seems everyone went around calling everyone else by their full, silly name. Constantly. But since the rest of the story was well put together and highly amusing, I don't mind too much. I do look forward to the future installments, especially seeing as how this book ended the beginning of why Holly is in Gravestone and starts the why of now she gets to stay there. And of course, it will also be good to read about the trouble she always seems to find herself getting into.

What the Hex

As if it weren't enough trying to keep a low profile, the peculiar name she had been assigned, walking around with her not-cute boot foot, and her sudden headaches, it all seemed a jumble with her memory off. It was funny to me to visualize Holly with the rat on her shoulder dragging the foot-boot as she tried to figure out the culprits. Not a very sexy sight for Calder, but that man was special! The mystery got more and more complicated and kept me enjoying the plot twists, some that I didn't expect and took me by surprise. An interesting cozy mystery, with an entertaining, funny plot with a picturesque old ex-agent who made me laugh all the time with her antics. I liked the mystery, the romance between Holly and Calder, the interesting characters, and that Holly now has more options to help Flynn and recover her memory. Eager for the next book.

What the Hex

This book concludes the first trilogy and all your questions are getting answered.
Superbly written throughout the book and series, the storylines connect well and make perfect sense.
Holly and her friends solve yet another mystery and she finds out a few hard truths about herself and Gravestone.
It was a fun and quirky read, which grabbed me glued to the pages. Suspenseful and excellent storytelling as always.
Cannot wait what's in store for Holly next!!!

Holly and Doris are at it again. This is such a fun cozy mystery with lots of humor, suspense, and some twists. Several parts made me laugh out loud and I adore the character names. They are a hoot. The chemistry between Holly and Calder heats up throughout the book, which fills me with glee. This is such an enjoyable book and series that I can’t wait until the next installment.

What the Hex

I just love these wonderful stories of the rat-not-rat, Flynn and his mate Holly Day, the witch, and the mischievous things they get up to with their sidekick Doris. I am always left smiling and wanting to see what this crazy bunch will get up to next. Once again, the ending was quite the surprise. I think I might just sit down and read the whole book again!

Recommended, clean, fun, and entertaining read!

What the Hex

Another book that was full of laughs! I adore these characters and how the author keeps me entertained throughout the book. If you like humorous, action-packed paranormal cozy mysteries, then I highly recommend reading this series.

What the Hex

This series is so much fun. I LOVE the punny names: Holly Day, Doris Shutt, Fay Tality, Luke Bizzy, etc. I do recommend reading this series in order. In this book, a mobster is killed and his heart is removed. Holly finds the body, of course, and she and Doris are determined to find the killer. There is a lot of backstory and Holly finds out most of what happened to her to land her in Gravestone.
