Guest Author Interview
Every few weeks I post a guest author interview on my blog where we get a little peek into an author's life! This week we're chatting with Victoria LK Williams, author of the Mrs. Avery's Adventures Cozy Mystery Series. Have a question for Victoria? Don't be afraid to leave a comment!
Victoria LK Williams
Victoria writes Cozy Mysteries with a Tropical Twist. Her series are set in small south Florida towns, with fun characters and a dog/cat or two. She also has one series that is paranormal cozy and the plans for a second.
Victoria can often be found writing from her south Florida home, looking into her garden, watching the birds and squirrels fight over their next meal, while she writes. Her two cats, Miss Marple, and Fletch, often join her at the desk and each has their assigned spot.
It will take me 30-60 days to come up with a rough draft, if I work steady. But my writing has to be squeezed in with my gardening business. I find I work best in sprints, dictating most of the rough draft during lunch, in between appointments and after the house is quiet for the night.
Gardening! My office window looks out into my garden and I can spent endless time watching the birds and squirrels that come to the feeders. My husband and I both love to read most evenings. I love to go to the beach or intracoastal waterways and watch the activity. It's always a good day when you can enjoy the dolphins playing.
At this stage of my writing, I like to be alone to write. I would love to have a lakeside cabin to retreat to. Writing in a cafe doesn't work for me. If I have somewhere close to nature and peaceful then I'd be happy.
I'm not a binger, I get bored about half way through. So I watch several at a time, jumping between series. Currently I'm watching Bones, Chuck and Midsomer Mysteries.
In another life I must have been a north pole elf. I love to decorate for the holidays, and the boxes at the warehouse can prove it! My first job out of college was at a big garden center in the Buffalo, NY area. During the holidays they turned the entire store into a Christmas shop. One year I was responible for decorating over 40 trees, each with a different theme. I only do one tree now.
Piper Avery is having a rough week; turning 50, getting a pink slip from work, and finding out her mother and mother-in-law are moving in across the street. And then she finds the body on the beach! Warned to stay out of the investigation by an undercover cop-well, Piper takes that as a challenge, wouldn't you? Along with her dog, Daisy, she follows the leads to a surprise killer.
Thank you, Victoria, for joining us today and sharing a little bit of your writing process and a behind the scenes peek at your personal life 🙂
Don't forget, you can ask Victoria a question in the comments (I'll make sure she sees it) and of course shoot on over to her website where you'll learn more about her books (hint: she has A LOT!)
