Guest Author Interview
Every few weeks I post a guest author interview on my blog where we get a little peak into an author's life! This week we're chatting with Ellen Jacobsen, author of the Mollie McGhie Cozy Sailing Mystery Series. Have a question for Ellen? Don't be afraid to leave a comment!
Ellen lives on a sailboat with her husband and an imaginary cat named Simon. When she isn't working on boat projects or seeking out deserted islands, she writes cozy mysteries and sci-fi/fantasy stories.
1. How long does it take you to write a full novel? AND...what's a typical writing day look like for you?
It typically takes me a few months to write a full novel. I tend to write in fits and spurts. I don't really have a typical writing day. When I'm on a roll, I can write for hours on end, only coming up for air and snacks. Other days, I'll write a few hundred words here and there in between other things I have going on.
2. Beside's writing, what are you most passionate about?
Traveling is my other big passion. I was an expat in Scotland and New Zealand for many years and was lucky enough to explore those beautiful countries, as well as travel throughout Europe and Asia. I've also traveled through out the States in a tiny camper and to the Bahamas on our sailboat.
3. If you could travel to any location to write a novel, where would you go and why?
I'd love to take our sailboat to the Caribbean and write while anchored off of a gorgeous tropical island.
4. What's the latest show you binge watched?
High Seas - it's a a Netflix Spanish language murder mystery series.
5. Tell us something most people don't know about you!
I get really creeped out by Popsicle sticks.
The Molly McGhie Sailing Mystery Series
What would you do if your hubby gave you the worst anniversary present ever? When Mollie is presented with a dilapidated sailboat, she's not impressed. When she discovers a dead body on board, things get even worse!
Thank you Ellen for joining us today and sharing a little bit of your writing process and a behind the scenes peek at your personal life 🙂
Don't forget, you can ask Ellen a question in the comments (I'll make sure she sees it) and of course shoot on over to her website where you'll learn more about her books.
